WoW Roleplay -- Unteeka and Amelindra

I really like freeform roleplaying, and have recently gotten back into it with my friends gibbouswolf and onefishjyuufish. So... I'm going to start putting particularly good (to me anyway) roleplay sessions here in my LJ, cleaned up and formatted, for my own perusal later. You can feel free to read them if you want, I'll try to tag them so you know what to expect. If I miss any tags I should use, feel free to let me know.

WoW, WoW Lore (meaning you may need to know some lore to understand this one), Death Knight, Priest, Blood Elf (female), Tauren (female), Emotion, Backstory, First Meeting, Safe for Work
Unteeka and Amelindra -- First Meeting and Chat

Teeka
The death knight was at that time in Brill's inn, taking advantage of the hospitality. Unteeka sighed softly, the warm mug of coffee in her hands strong and aromatic. She took a deep breath of it before she took a sip, relishing the taste and sitting back in the chair, gazing into the fire and looking thoughtful.

Gibb
It may not have seemed terribly unusual for someone to be awake at such a late hour. It was a forsaken town, afterall, and the undead certainly didn't need the sleeping conventions of most. The surprising thing was really that the soft footsteps on the stairwell came from what appeared to be a blood elf.

Her russet hair was pulled back into a loose tail, and her attire suggested she'd been resting, if not sleeping. Upon seeing the Death Knight, she perked up ever so slightly, not quite in recognition, but at least pleased to see someone else up and about. After a moment's hesitation, she went to Unteeka's side, waiting simply to be acknowledged.

Teeka
The Death Knight didn't acknowledge her at first, so deeply lost in thought was she. After a moment, a small movement in her peripheral vision jerked her back to reality, and she started, turning her head to look at the blood elf. She wondered for a moment if she was about to be insulted, as most of her previous experience with blood elves, especially females, consisted of being insulted for how "ugly" she was. She headtilted curiously, anyway, bracing herself to laugh off any rudeness. "Is there something you need, miss?"

Gibb
The elven lady had a slightly wide-eyed and apologetic look, "Ah.. I didn't mean to interrupt your rest~ Please, forgive me... I simply wondered if you'd seen a young forsaken man around--" She blushed, and was quick to give a bit of description, "He's missing a bit of... of his cheek, just here." Motioning discretely to her left cheek, she then folded her hands. "I... He.. He helped me a few days ago, and I wasn't able to properly thank him. I've been looking for him."

Teeka
Unteeka's pupil-less eyes grew wide as she listened to the blood elf. "Please, forgive -me- for my brusqueness... you haven't interrupted anything important." She smiled reassuringly, and then thought a moment. "Forsaken man with some of his cheek missing... you must be joking." She chuckled softly in her realization. "He was here but maybe an hour ago. He left on business, but yes, I know this man you seek. His name is Griffyth. He probably will be back here eventually."

Gibb
The blush on her cheeks didn't diminish, "Ah... Thank you~ I suppose I've simply missed him... Thank you. I'm sorry for being so direct, but please, I assure you I saw no reason to take offense. You didn't seem brusque at all." She bowed, the gesture seeming genuine, but not nearly as full of flourish as 'other' Blood Elves, "I'm Amelindra Starsong."

Teeka
Unteeka stood, towering above the petite woman, and offered her hand to shake. "Wonderful to meet someone so ...well, nice. That's sadly rare around here!" She smiled. "My name is Unteeka. Um...actually, that man, Griffyth. He's part of my guild, Blessing of Fortuna."

Gibb
Shaking hands wasn't the custom to any elven race, so that she didn't hesitate at all in taking the offered hand said she at least had dealings with other races on a regular basis. She shook as best she was able, given the size difference, and seemed not at all afraid. "Ah! So, then you know him well?" She was beaming, "That does seem rather fortuitous~"

Teeka
"I actually don't know him all that well... truth be told I only just met him earlier today. But he's a very nice fellow!" She sat back down at the table, waving her hand in offering of a seat beside her.

Gibb
Amelindra bobbed her head in thanks, sitting beside the larger woman. "He did seem very nice..." lowering her voice and seeming sheepish, she added, "Especially in comparison to some folks..." She seemed tired, but was generally in a better, less spooked looking spirit than she'd seemed when first coming downstairs. "Griffyth, you said his name was?" She nodded in answer to her own question, "I might have been seriously injured without his help. I really do want to thank him."

Teeka
The Death Knight gave a wry chuckle at the unusual blood elf lady's words. "I know how you feel. His type... and yours...are breaths of fresh air." She sipped her coffee again, having nearly forgotten about it. "I'm glad you made it through safely. Unfortunately, I don't really know when he'll be back. How long were you planning on waiting?"

Gibb
Amelindra thought about it a moment, looking down at her hands, "Well, I've offered any skills I might have to the local people... I don't have any business elsewhere that won't keep." The thought of whatever business it was seemed to drag her to a darker place in her mind, and she fell silent then, thoughtful.

Teeka
The Death Knight noticed this, but didn't press the issue. Still, she turned in over in her mind for a silent moment, wondering what this sweet woman could be dealing with that was so terrible. She made a mental note of it, then moved on. "I see. Well, if you'll be staying here till he returns, then so will I. I'll help you. I have no business elsewhere right now, so I'll feel better if I make myself useful. If you'll have me, that is."

Gibb
Amelindra glanced up, a bit at a loss, "I.. Well, yes of course~! I'd be honored." She was smiling, darker things pushed to the background once again. "If you really don't mind, I'd -- Well, honestly... I'd love the company," she said, far more quietly, and seeming a little sheepish.

Teeka
Unteeka smiled gently and patted Ameli's hand. "I'll be here as long as you need me. I have all the time in the world." Her smile remained, but it changed to one tinted with sadness. She sighed softly. "I know there's something... going on. Something that makes you worried or anxious. I won't pry, but I offer my ear to you anytime you need it." She flicked her ear as if in demonstration.

Gibb
The elf blinked, going a bit wide eyed, then quickly looked down at her lap. "Ah.. Is it that obvious?" She looked up with a small, sad grin, "If you... really want to know... Maybe we could go for a walk, and get to know each other? I haven't really been able to sleep properly for days, anyway."

Teeka
The white tauren nodded and stood. "I rarely sleep, myself. I need to get some fresh air anyway. After you." She bowed slightly.

Gibb
Amelindra stood and bowed briefly, "Why thank you~, then preceded her out the entrance. The chill in the air caused her to pull her robes more tightly around her as they began to walk down the little street.

"It's chilly for a summer night, but considering the heat lately, I'm glad for it."

Teeka
"Cold doesn't much bother me much anymore. Chilly night air doesn't quite compare to the combined colds of death and Northrend." She grinned, running a large hand through her bright blue mane. "Though you poor no-furred types have it rough even in this weather." Her hooves thumped softly on the grass beside the path. She tended to stay on one side or the other, finding the soft grass much more comfortable and less jarring to walk on.

Gibb
The elf nodded, silent for a long while, watching around for any prying eyes. There were always deathstalkers, but most were on patrol, and she wasn't really the paranoid type, thinking everyone to be against her. "I've often wished I had my husband's abilities... He... was a druid. Winter's were nothing but a stiff breeze and a long nap for him."

Teeka
Unteeka nodded, listening. "Druids are fascinating. Such interesting abilities." She didn't have much to add to the conversation, so just added an encouraging word once in awhile.

Gibb
It took her a few moments, but she seemed determined to talk about things. She had, after all, suggested they get to know each other, so she'd go first.

"Not terribly long before the High Elves were permanently banished from Night elven lands, I was a rather happy young lady with a handsome druid for a husband. I myself was mostly of high elven descent, though a few generations back I do have Kal'dorei blood. Unfortunately, it didn't stop my family from being banished. I, being a priestess, married to a rather prestigious young druid, and not overly given to the use of arcane magics, was given the option of sanctuary in Darnassus, should I choose it... But I wanted to leave my family no more than I wanted to leave my husband..." Huddling in on herself a bit, Amelindra sighed heavily, readjusted her robes, then simply went on as they walked.

"They didn't want Elithrann -that was his name- to come along because they partially blamed him... Simply because he was a night elf, purely unfounded, of course, but they were upset and felt deeply betrayed... I told them either he came, or I stayed... and he'd agreed, for better or worse, to come along with us.... We've lived on the outskirts of Quel'thalas ever since it was founded, and have seen some hard times together... Elithrann still could never understand the ways of the Quel'dorei... why they wouldn't give up arcane magic when it was so volatile... Oh, if only they'd known, but I can't feel sorry for them, really. I worry for my family, but they'd all been given fair warning."

Another pause, a sheepish look, "That's neither her nor there, though... Ghosts of a past I can't change."

Her lip quivered slightly, but she steeled it, looking straight ahead, trying not to think more than was necessary about what she was about to say "I.. I've mostly been having trouble lately because-- Well, when Arthas destroyed the Sunwell, my husband, my son and I all did our part... We fought against him as hard as any of the residents of Silvermoon. My son had even become one of their rangers~

"My husband was taken by the Lich King... and my son disappeared shortly later, when Kael'Thas Sunstrider lead a unit through the Dark Portal..." At that, she finally bit her lip and walked to the grass. They'd walked a goodly distance to the edge of town by that point, and she leaned on the last rungs of wraught-iron fencing that surounded the graveyard. "I worried they were both dead. I'd convinced myself.. I'd finally begun to move on... and now I have this... sort of fleeting, pathetic hope that Elithrann could--" She turned over her shoulder to look at Unteeka, "--That perhaps he regained himself... When you and the others did."

Teeka
The death knight stood behind her a quiet moment before joining her at the gate, wrapping a tentative arm around Ameli's shoulders. "It's indeed possible. I don't want to either raise or dash your hopes, not at all, but I should warn you of a few things. Firstly, if he is alive, he may not remember much of his old life, including you and your son. Secondly, if he's alive and he does remember... it could be that he never sought you out because he's changed so much."

She paused a moment, removing her arm from the woman's shoulders and gripping the gate. "We... we weren't ourselves, when we were first changed into what we are now. We were monsters, puppets dancing to our master's song. When we broke free, we realized the horrors of what we'd done. We slaughtered thousands of innocent people, men, women, and children screaming for their lives, crying, begging us for mercy..." her breath caught in her throat as a lump formed there. She shuddered a little as the memories fought to overwhelm her, but she managed to force them back down. "Even many of those of us that didn't remember what life was like before we were changed... nearly went mad with grief. Those of us that did remember... even bits and pieces.... we felt like monsters. If you knew what that felt like... you wouldn't want to subject your family to it. It would be... we would be murderers in our own homes. Even if we never did it again...it's still there. The blood we spilled has stained us...not on the outside, but inside. We are tainted. And we can never be forgiven. But we can try, desperately and with all our hearts, to do whatever it takes to erase the plague upon this land. Maybe, even if it never redeems us... maybe we can save others from going through what we did. What.... they did. The ones whose cries for mercy were silenced so abruptly."

She shook her head, a heavy-gloved hand wiping dewdrops of tears from her eyes. "I just don't want you to think that if you met him again, things would be suddenly all right. If you could get through to him...it would take a lot of work to make him forget. To make him who he used to be." She smiled sadly. "But then... you're a magical little thing. Maybe not in the arcane...but just you. The skies weep to see you so forlorn. I can imagine how beautiful Azeroth must have been when you were truly happy."

Gibb
"I... I know... I do understand. I still have to look... I can't go on without knowing, even if it only brings more pain." Bobbing her head briefly, "Thank you, though... It's good to have that sort of honesty."

Ameli took a long, shivery breath, and after a few moments she offered a small smile. Reaching out a hand, she placed it on the tauren's arm, "... It's a difficult thing for the world to see innocents die... They need someone to blame... and it was horrible... That you seek to make up for it is enough for me. I... admit I've not met many death knights... I'm sure it varies from individual to individual. However, in your case, I believe the willingness to try, even against such tremendous odds, to put things right, or at least help to make them better says something deeply good about you, that you can't see through all the guilt."

The elf cocked her head to one side, cheeks flushed from the cold, eyes near closed as her smile widened a bit, "If it helps... I want you to find your redemption and be happy. "

Teeka
At the blood elf's heartfelt words, the Tauren nearly broke down right then and there, never really having given herself a chance to cry after everything had happened. Eventually, after a few moments of shaking uncontrollably, she regained her composure enough to speak again. "Thank you, Amelindra. You have no idea how much that means to me. And I will do my best to help you search for your husband. He's probably out there somewhere." She turned and leaned down, wrapping Ameli in a strong but gentle hug that they probably both needed.

Gibb
Ameli hugged on tightly, petting through the Tauren's mane. "I truly can't thank you enough, but anytime you wish to have an ear, I promise you mine will be available to listen."

Teeka
"Thank you, Ameli. Mine, as well." Unteeka released the elf and stood up, sighing shakily. "So. That was a lot more emotion than I expected to come across during this walk." She chuckled softly.

Gibb
Ameli blushed and bowed her head, but smiled, "I'm sorry for thrusting all my problems and life history into your lap like that~ I'm glad you don't seem angry."

Teeka
Unteeka grinned. "I'm quickly realizing that you're the type of person I don't think I could get mad at for anything. In any case, I wanted to know. I'm just glad you're not upset that I pried." She grinned and stuck out her tongue.

Gibb
The elf wrinkled her noise, grinning cutely, reaching out to scritch under Unteeka's chin, a mellow but playful gesture. "I've really needed someone to tell... I couldn't exactly tell any of my blood elf cousins~"

I'm sharing it with you, too, as well as what she wrote.

I'm sure many have seen this already, but I really feel this video needs to spread, in hope of opening hearts and opening minds.

<lj-embed id="17" />

(For those who don't know, Prop 8 was a California proposition to ban the rights of same sex couples to marry, which passed recently.)

It is time...Laptop for Sale!

My Alienware laptop is back in my hands and working beautifully. So for those of you interested in buying my blue beast, here are the specs.

First off, for a quick rundown and sample specs, along with pictures: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/Alienware-Aurora-m7700.htm

Now for my particular specs:
17" Non-glare screen with camera, 1900 x 1200 resolution
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2x 1MB Cache Dual Core processor
Two Gigs of DDR PC3200 Sodimm AW90 RAM
Two 120 Gig SATA hard drives (5400RPM)
RAID System (Redundant drives)
DVD+/-RW Drive
NVidia GeForce Go 7700 graphics card
Internal Wireless Card
Windows XP Pro

The Motherboard and Hard Drives are brand new, as is the (factory) install of Windows, and the rest of the parts are two years old. Nothing has been installed on the laptop except World of Warcraft to test the system, and I can uninstall it if you wish. This system has never overheated. It runs World of Warcraft and Second Life like a dream.

Stuff you get when you buy the laptop:
The laptop itself
User manuals
The power cord/power brick
Recovery CD
Nero Express Program CD
Laptop Backpack with lots of padding (this one here)
Xbrand foldable mobile laptop cooling stand (Basically a fancy name for this thing)

I have a box specifically for the laptop that I'll be using to ship it (lots and lots of padding), and everything else I would ship separately in the backpack (all wrapped up individually to keep things safe). I don't have a shipping cost offhand, but it will be additional, as well as the insurance that I have to require that you buy.

My current asking price is $1199.00 USD, but I will of course be taking offers as well. I may be interested in some items being used as trade (art or fursuit stuff, specifically). If you're interested in the laptop, or have any questions, please email me (teekachu AT gmail DOT com).

And please pimp me to your friends! If you end up referring a buyer, I'll do something nice for you, too! :D

Thanks a bunch! ^.^

I sent this to the people I work with and some other friends, and thought I'd share it here too :)

I hope everyone has an awesome weekend! If you do this simple little thing, I promise it feels a bit silly, but it’s really worth it.

Take the time to go outside and feel the wind on your face, take in a deep breath and smell all the grass and trees and springtime, and listen as the birds sing around you. Feel the warmth of the life-giving sun, look at all the green around you and see how happy it all is, so full of life now that spring has arrived. The leaves dance as the breeze rustles them…it’s almost like the trees and bushes are celebrating!

Notice all those little things, and then realize YOU are a part of it. You’re alive, and you should be happy and celebrating too! Little things go wrong sometimes… we have to deal with people that annoy us, or have to go to the dentist (…and get a root canal…*), or go though unfun things that really put a bad twist on our day. You have a choice to either let it get to you… or just breathe, let it go, and celebrate being alive and part of this beautiful world.

(Sorry, today just feels like a happy love-everybody day to me today.) ;D Back to work!

(*Root canal part was cause my boss had to have that done a couple days ago) ;)

This is a public message to those new to my journal or not logged in (though I know it will show up on my friends' pages as well).

All public and friends-only LJ entries prior to November 18, 2007 have been set to private. I have also deleted my Myspace account (not that I ever really used it anyway). People that I don't know and my blood-family have been finding me online in various places, and I'm trying to reduce the occurances of this. Internet "fame" is not worth the hassle of not feeling safe.

My apologies for any inconvenience.
